Default 2014 upgrades

I thought I'd share some things of my 2014 upgrades.

Last seen in action was on the Auto24Ring in Estonia in October.

Winter upgrades won't be easily seen from the outside but will essentially make the much quicker in acceleration and deceleration.
Here's some things in the acceleration department. I'll add some more things later on.

Custom made turbo mount to rotate and straighten up the turbo with turbine inlet facing downwards. This is the stock rotation of the turbo:

New parts to sort this out:

New Garrett GTX3582R with Tial 1.03 housing

The hard part is that turbo crossover, downpipe, oil return, steering rod and 3 AN12 dry sump hoses need to fit in the same space. With the down-rotated turbo I had to make a double oil return flange to get the hose connection further down. Many time consuming details

Custom made 4-1 headers and crossover. Made in large diameter (48 mm) SS321 with double slip fit long merge collector. Flex bellow in inconel.

3.5" downpipe with 3.5" oval exhaust for better underbody aerodynamics (and more power compared to old 3").
This is 3" round vs 3.5" oval.

Awesome. Have you considered twin scroll?

Thanks. I decided against twin scroll to optimize for top end power using a 4-1 collector.

Duke, for some context what CR, boost & RPM are you running?

It's a stroked and dry sleeved 3.1l block with 16v 968 head, other camshafts, dry sump set up, pinned girdel, 9/16" head studs, short runner intake, 75 mm TB etc..
CR on this engine is 8.9:1 and rpms upwards 7500 rpm.

You have been very busy. Very nice indeed! Will you be on the dyno with this setup?

What size wheel/tire and offset are you running?

Very nice fabrication work.

Thanks guys. Last season I ran a lightened S2 flywheel with the 60-2 trigger along with a Spec stage 4 clutch. The clutch started slipping already from 1 bar of boost so something had to be done. After a long wait the new twin disch setup from Spec arrived. We then modded it for a 36-1 trigger. My customized trigger sensor mount can also be seen. It's using a factory Volvo sensor that produces a much cleaner signal than the OEM version. Also seen on the last pic is how the turbine inlet is rotated and all piping is now wrapped in DEI's titanium product line. If you have a good eye for detail you will also spot the crankcase pressure sensor that has been added

It's an amazing 7 kg lighter than the setup from last year.

Very nice. I'm installing a pressure sensor in the cooling system. What sensor is that? I take it's fluid resistant?

Have you ran tge venting system like this previously? If so, I wasted a ton of $$ on my AOS delete!

All the custom things just adds up to an insane (here I go again ) amount of hours!

That's a good idea, I need to add one at some point. The sensor is a map sensor that is resistant to fuel and oil but mainly it will just be air in vacuum there. Yes I run dry sump so the vent and filler are closed off.

Thanks. I'm aiming for dyno in about a month or so. Too bad the shop with a Dynojet closed down. Will have to use another dyno this time (which is much more conservative)

I run 10*18 front and 11*18 rear in the dry with 285/305 front/rear Kumho R spec tires. I have room for 13" wheels in the back so I'm all set for when it is time to move to slicks.

Dont really remember offsets as run a combination of standard OZ Racing wheels and spacers. I have a custom double a arm suspension up front and a 996 multilink setup rear.
