I've had good luck with banding 2 together with cardboard between the faces and shipping them as a pair. iirc UPS was the cheapest to Canada

I tried going through a retail shipping company at first but when they wanted $300 I decided to just do the paperwork myself.

Fedex Ground service is pretty good too for heavy things.

I've never shipped with tires. Shipping in pairs is best from what I've found. USPS had always given me the cheapest rates. However, I didn't have UPS or FedEx accounts at the time. I've noticed UPS and FedEx rates are quite a bit cheaper with the basic account (super easy to setup) so you'll save money even if you only ship one item a year and get the lowest account level.

FedEx Ground is best. You have to find a dedicated Ground location, normal FedEx locations will charge much more.
Greyhound bus is another alternative if you and your destination have terminals.

I had 4 wheels with tires shipped from California to Georgia $145.00 by Greyhound terminal to terminal.

Cheers,

Greyhound or Shipnex, way cheaper than Fedex.
