In my experience, the bushings, themselves won't negatively impact things, much. Spring rates are going to have a much, much greater impact. Before I caged mine, the seat was the thing that made my car uncomfortable. Yeah, the heavy springs made it a little harsh, but from prior experiences, just a bushing change did not degrade ride quality. They may transmit a little more noise and vibration, but they don't made the ride more harsh (or rough).

I'm going to be putting all solid/spherical stuff on my Turbo S, along with KW Variant 3's. I will, however, not put the Delrin spring plate bushings in it because of the noise. Will likely look into the polybronze for it.

Age wise, FWIW, I'm 39 (caged the track car about 3 years ago). That said, when I moved from GA to MI in 2000, I had to recalibrate my butt to what a rough road was. The roads in TN are like silk compared to the ones in MI that resemble the missile testing site in White Sands, NM.

Gentlemen, thank you for your feedback. My brother's 250 bhp '02 Cooper S has rose-jointed suspension & 18" wheels with 215/35 tyres so I was wondering how the 951's ride would compare. I wouldn't want it to be any harsher than that car.

Harsh yes but that's driver preference, it's tough on the car though IF your roads are bad..

For anyone curious what bad roads are https://www.google.ca/search?hl=en&s...mg.6ZtQa2xQtTE
Why order street KW stuff when you need racing struts, springs, etc?

Buy what you need for your car. KW and most other manufactures make what you need. KW's version of what you purchased wasn't designed for a track only 951, M3, 911TT, EVO, or anything else for street/occasional track duty.

If the car is a street car then yes, it is too harsh. When I put mine in my car was a street car that I used at the track, after I put them in it became a track car that you could drive on the street. You will enjoy the car less after your efforts and expense if your plan is to enhance the performance on the street. If I had a 951 for the street and it had some miles I would replace with new stock bushings etc.

When I first bought them I wasn't doing as many events; some seasons you have more free time and some less.

This season likely none

Hi George, I'll be running 225/45/18 front & 265/35/18 rears - Yokohama A048 tyres. This car will be driven to the track, but sometimes those drives will be a few hundred miles if I'd headed for the Nurburgring or Spa. The car will be dry-dumped, so it's evolving away from purely street, but the objective was to achieve something akin to a 951 version of a GT3. The car will have a full stock interior & the intention is for it to look as stock as possible with the 18" 993 hollow-spokes & 3" SFR exhaust perhaps being the only give-aways. Ride height will remain stock but roll & pitch should be greatly improved.

255/40/17 & 275/40/17. I could run larger tires. Rubber is cheaper than what may break without some give in the rear.

What is dry-dumped? Sounds like a bad date. Trust me, I'm trying to get you to smile. The 993 wheels on the later 951 cars fit good-enough.

I'm trying to think of a 951 version of a GT3...Nothing comes to mind.

The GT3 is a killer piece of engineering. Drive one. The 951, in my opinion based on my ownership of many sports cars, has few equals. Killer ride with the right mods. Know, my succienct knowledge of money has no bearing on my 951. Love these cars.

A well sorted 951, with reliability, that will keep up with a GT3 will cost as much as a used Gt3 with mods. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/SPORT...item1c32139b14

Yeah, this passion for the killer 951 costs a few bucks.

George, I think most of us throw inordinate sums of money at the 951 because we like to be a little different. You can show up at a track here in Europe & every second car is a GT3 and most of the others will probably be M3s, so to drive a 951 even though you're into it for almost used-GT3 money, is to be really distinctive. I'm sure most hard-core 951-modders on this board also love 911s but decided to improve the rather unloved underdog rather than take the more obvious & perhaps more sensible (certainly economically) option of just buying a 911 ready to go out of the box!
A dry-dump is something which occurs near the end of a long bout of diarrhea!
Is a 275 the limit of what can be fitted without rolling the rear fenders?

Personally I think 40mm stagger is a little too much and you can run 285's on 10" depending on offset and camber. Can you not get A050's in the UK? It's really weird how certain R spec rubber isn't marketed in different countries. UK and US don't have the same choice as little old OZ for some reason??
I ran 18" x 275's all round on R specs and all the metal bushings bearings plus whatever the springs were 620lb and 715lb or thereabouts. Easy peasy.

Agreed on the GT3 comparo and you're amongst friends on that subject!! George just went in for a little kill showing us a low mileage 997tt looking particularly fetching. Could have bought a fleet of them for what I've burned up on these cars. Anyway, good luck to you and your pursuit. The more the merrier I say!
