Original or Rebuilt Ball Joint?
1 Attachment(s)
Rebuilding the ball joints due to a cracked boot on the driver's side.
Innards contained a dark plastic cup, compared with the white plastic cup Rennbay used to sell until they switched to brass only. The bore of the ball joint has two machined circular channels cut into it (only 1/4 of the way through), one of which is showing in the picture When I rebuilt the joints on my 944, I don't remember seeing these. Ball joint appears to be in decent condition. One scratch in the bottom third that fingernails catch on, visible at 4 o'clock in the picture. Could this be original to the car? |

And here were the contents of the Rennbay plastic cup kit. Note that the 'dime' is not present in the 951.

TexasBlake.com has a good write-up on the aluminum A-Arm rebuild, shame to put one in without a Zirk. No practical reason for scoring in the tapered Bore, just a problem waiting for it's '15 minute's'.

Having now rebuilt the ball joint, I'm convinced it was original. 80k miles on the first one, let's see how long the second one goes.

From the pictures that was the original ball joint.
