Yep, theses rims in 11's are too wide for this car. I put them on and they are about an inch too wide w/o tires.

I geuss the moral of my story is try it. Sometimes it's hard to get a straight answer on this forum...

Before you give up completely, ask AZbanks what he did... he's got the same wheels on an S2 cab, so it's possible. I don't know what he did to make it work, but I'd think it's worth asking.

Correct! This is what we've been saying...

I geuss the moral of my story is try it. Sometimes it's hard to get a straight answer on this forum...
Or, sometimes you have to ask the right question. We made you aware the wheels you bought are not correct for your car unless of course you want to aggressively push the quarters out and run aggressive negative camber.

I guess we could blame the moderators for not making one of the many wheel/ tire figment threads a sticky, say like this one... The Official 924/44/68 Wheel Thread.

Regardless, you have to know what you're starting with to know what replacement wheels will fit.

Your stock '89T has 16x7 et65 front and 16x9 et60 rear wheels.
Use the calculator posted above and plug in numbers.
The front can accept about 33mm more outside width for an 8" wheel and the rear about 22mm more width for a 11" wheel. These numbers are specific to the '88 and '89T.

As you've learned tires of the same size fit differently, also suspension components and settings have their influence on wheel choice too. Some front wheels will not fit with stock springs and require a 2.5" ID set.

We've offered you some option, but like I mentioned before if you want to run the 996 style rear wheel, you'll have to find a replica 10"et65 set. Porsche never made that style/ size wheel. Also a 7 or 5mm spacer will be needed up front to allow the center cap to snap in place...

Truly wish this were easier for you sir, good luck on this journey.

If you read every response, which I have done, you too will realize what I mean. Lots of conflicting information/ideas/thoughts.
It comes to who do you believe with this one. That's why I just put the wheel on; to find out who to believe.
For example, read the post before yours...

I totally wish I had a picture of when the dumbass at the tire shop put the 225's on my 10" and 265's on my 8.5 and didn't think anything of it....
Even the 265's on a 10" were too stretched for me.

Click on the "specs" tab on any tire at Tirerack and they show you the min and max official sizes of rim you can run per the manufacturer. It's a great place for info.

You want as wide of a rim as you can run, as it makes for a more stable tire and provides crisper response at turn in and during transitions - as the tire doesn't "fall over " nearly as much as a tire that's way wider than the rim.

I am running 996 turbo wheels on my 90 S2 cab. 295/30 ZR 18 11X45et The tires are Hankook Ventus evo's.

I had to get aggressive with the fender rolling. I used an aluminum bat which rolled the lips a lot and stretched the fender out just a little.

A good friend of mine used to have a 2000 Lotus Esprit, and he got a flat something like 150 miles from home, so the spare just wasn't going to cut it, but, of course the tire shop he found wherever he was didn't have a 325 or whatever it was that fit on that gigantic wheel (something like 11 or 12 inches wide), so he had them put the widest tire they had (a 245) on it, just to get him home... for years that was the most amazingly stretched tire I'd ever seen.

And then there was this Dubber... . About a year ago, I was looking around for info on 996 turbo twists, and I stumbled across a post some Dubber had made on a forum... He was so excited, because he was able to find a tire shop that was willing to install a 215 on an 11" wide wheel. Now that was ridiculous.
