Default WBO2 just installed - lean spike question

Hello all,

So I just installed an innovate LC-1 and G5 guage package to my 951 (86, with A-tune, cheater k26/6, tial 38mm &MBC) The AFRs read pretty good from what I can tell:

Warm idle: 14.7 spot on
Hard Acceleration: 11.5

I havn't done a WOT test yet, but, the thing is that whenever I shift slowly, accelerate hard then let off, or put the car in neutral it is accompanied by a lean spike on the guage (maxes the guage at 18) Then it goes back to normal operation.

Is this normal operation? is this something wrong with how I installed the sensor, or is there a problem with the car?

Thanks in advance!!

Yes, this is normal. When you let off the throttle and the engine is above ~1500rpm, then the DME cuts off the fuel injectors completely. This shows up as a lean-spike on the WBO2, and is nothing to worry about.

It is to save fuel I think? A lot of cars do something similar.

Its more of a emissions and fuel economy thing, You dont need the fuel if your off the throttle, Youd just be wasting it and burning fuel for no reason

Yeah, it's annoying (and normal), because you can't have a 'lean' alarm because if you are coasting in neutral, forget it...

Why would you not need fuel?

Most any fuel-injected car cuts the injectors during deceleration.

Save fuel, lower emissions, ect.

The if the engine is decelerating, then you are not trying to produce any power, therefore no fuel is needed.
