Toyo R888 - Track tire pressures?
Hi folks,
I'm running Toyo R888 tires on my 944S2. I was wondering if any of you have recommendations with regard to hot tire pressures at the track on a 944/951 with these tires?
My setup...
Thanks.
Karl.
PS: For the record, Toyo recommends the following for the R888: http://toyotires.com/tire/pattern/pr...petition-tires

Not sure on those sized 888's Karl but Toyo tend to like a fairly high hot psi rating from most of us that have ran them down here. Mid to high 30's seems to work best. Trial and error of course. I suggest you try the Nitto NT01 next time by comparison.

I still like the RA1, might have to try Nitto next but the RA1 you can turn them in for out provided you keep them in the dry - it will get you a couple of extra events. We run those in the low 30 to start and they end up mid to high 30 as well.

You should be able to generate about 8-10 lbs over cold pressure And shoot for 40-41 hot. I would start with about 33 cold and see where it goes. Although I started with r888's several years ago, I am now running Nt-01's and find they are more consistent and last much longer (can move side to side) than the r888's. I start at 29-31 depending on position/track/weather and aim for about 40-41 all around with 245/17 on front and 275/17 on rear. Mike

When I ran 888's on my 951 I found they started getting greasy above 35 psi hot. On the 996tt the sweet spot is lower, 32 psi. YMMV, but I'd recommend going on the low side of the factory recommendation.

I'm running the same sizes. I found that pushing high 30's / low 40's they started getting greasy (but I don't know how many heat cycles these particular tires had). I started out 32 cold and that seems to put me close to where I wanted to be hot.
