The need to cut torque for flat shifting without resorting to crude methods like cutting the spark or pulling timing.

Also control of the throttle via DBW for blipping (rpm matched down shifts) and traction control.

The GM computer won't do it and I'm not are of anything less expensive than Motec that will.

You can use what ever bell housing you want, it won't fix that issue.

A small twin disk will however.. :-)

That's odd, it's never seen over 6,300 and for the this season, all under 6,000 (running out of fuel above that). It let go when I pushed the clutch in for a 3->4 shift. at about 5,800. It was presumably cracked before that and the push from the clutch slave was the final straw.

I looked at a mini-twin, but couldn't spring for it. I am getting an aluminum pressure plate, which comes with a slightly smaller clutch - hopefully that will keep the forces down enough.

I had the Spec with the aluminum pressure plate option. BTW, the pressure plate housing isn't aluminum. It's the insides that are. So yes it's lighter, but the problem is the housing. When the thing gets fatigued the centrifugal forces become too much and it starts to come apart.

How much time did you have on the pressure plate?

Hey Tony, why did you go with that intake instead of the Fast 102

The modified MSD flows more than a modified FAST and has shorter runners.

It's a temporary upgrade until I get time to have a custom sheet metal intake fabricated.

... all of which is a temporary fix until I put in the next permanent engine....

Gotta more stuff we threw at it...

Full Motec engine management

Jessel tool steel mechanical roller lifters and pushrods (which work with the Jessel shaft mount rockers)

Titanium exhaust valves (already had Titanium intake valves) with the proper valve seats and guides

New cam with a ramp angle to take advantage of the mechanical roller lifters, a lot more duration and a little more lift

New Tony Mamo ported intake

108mm DBW ported throttle body

Oh yeah.... it's on.

Coming up... new headers and a blown diffuser exhaust.

mu ha ha

...

The harness are not "sealed up" yet... That won't happen until after testing just in case we need to make changes....

Looks phenomenal as always Tony. When are you going to ditch that RacePak nonsense? You're already running Motec engine management.

I actually really like the Racepak stuff. Especially at their price point.

And since there is nothing to be gained, and a lot of cash to change it out just for the sake of changing it out, there's no point. The dash is almost identical, the Smartwire works perfectly.

The computer on the other hand was a necessity. While the GM PCM is bullet proof will do almost everything needed (and they cost $90 on ebay) it won't properly do what's needed for flat shifting and throttle blipping. Yes you can do it, but it's sort of a hack job with respect to the methods needed to get the job done. And it will never be as smooth or as easy on the engine/trans as doing it with a PCM that has the functionality built in.

That said, the best, smoothest way to do torque reduction and thottle blipping is with a DBW throttle - which also allows us to have cockpit adjustable traction control. You can't do that with an OEM PCM.

And since we're now with a non OEM PCM, we can do per-cylinder engine tuning using 1 EGT probe per cylinder and dual wide band 02 sensors. That will allow us to pick quite a bit of free HP.

So the move to Motec was a necessity resulting from the installation of the sequential transmission... which allowed us to do some other things along the way to enhance performance.

I just can't wait to get the damn thing on the track....

Ready for the new headers/exhaust and out to the race track.... :-)

Got some aero work done.

Looks great Tony!! Is the under tray fabricated entirely out of aluminum sheet? Or, some other material(s)? And, how much does it weigh?

Thanks,
Jeff

It's glass and the rear side portions are aluminum.

I don't know the weight. I didn't weight it. but I'm probably going to use it to have a replica made in dry carbon/kevlar.
