TonyG > New Race Car Build Thread
#1396
Keep up the fantastic work Tony! I need to make a visit out to Southern Cal sometime to see you race that beast!! You are eliminating all the weak links and improving everything all at the same time. Such a sweet race car!!

Ok... finally the new exhaust is done.
Headers/collectors are 321 stainless. Lots of slip fits throughout. 2" primaries.
Haven't mounted the stainless fender protectors yet.
Now it's off to setup map the Motec engine management and setup the transmission programming... Next race: Sept 10, 2016 Autoclub Speedway... woohoo
(then some damn body work and paint!)

Tony, did you use the stock input shaft clamp back at the transaxle?
I've had issues with clamp not holding enough and letting the torque tube shaft move forward and push on the crank (like the Porsche 928 automatic issue). Looking into stronger solutions now.
(This is with 700-770 hp and sequential paddle shift transaxle)

Maybe I'm not understanding.
Are you using a 968 TT?
But thus far with the factory 951 trans, it hasn't been an issue. I've not driven it yet with the Albins trans. That should occur in about a week.

Ok.... all together... time for the dyno...
Albin Sequential Trans, twin disk mini clutch, new torque tube, new headers and exhaust, Motec ECU, individual EGT probes and dual wide band a/f, tool steel lifters and push rods, new TI valve springs, lighter exhaust valves, a little more porting, larger mechanical roller cam, new intake manifold (ported), larger DBW throttle body, full Geartronics paddle shift package...
It's run on jack stands through the gears... going to the dyno Monday.

Be great to see this car down at World Time Attack Challenge but I think running on max 295 R spec tyres would be something to deal with.
