Guess that is why they tried to get me to buy this, came quickly and looks great. Still waiting on my 968 gears. Every other month when I ask for an ETA it is 4 weeks.

I don't know the shipping cost as it was not broken out as a single line item in the quote. Rather it was included with the cost of the actual transaxle.

Jesus Tony.... That's beautiful. Really nice. It's actually only about 23k if I buy that instead of rebuilding mine. Lol

Well the good thing is you're working on about $1.25c exchange rate US to Au $. But it's in no way a bolt in proposition. Requires total cut and fab job plus all the other driveline components. Good thing is that you will have much stronger axles/CVs etc. These things are built to run some serious tq. They're the control 'Box in the Aussie V8s.

I didn't buy it directly from Albins, but from one of their distributors. It's the distributor that quoted me for price for the trans with shipping from Albins. The other line items were the LSD, the additional drop gear, cnc adapter plate, and shipping from the distributor to Vision Motorsports, which is about 150 miles from the distributor.

The transaxle comes with a CNC adapter plate, so it bolts straight up to the 944/968TT. And it comes with the correct input shaft splines, so you use the factory coupler. So the only thing you have to do is to hang it in the back. I don't know about the clearance issues of a stock car, but it's not an issue for me. But fitting it into a stock body car w/o a stock fuel tank shouldn't be major surgery.

I specified 996TT drive hubs, so I use 996TT CV's on the inner and outter axles. My only real fabrication issue is having to have custom length drive shafts.

Getting new trans fitted... The trans is not at the installed height in these pics. At the right trans height, the axles are about level when the car is on its wheels.

BTW... stock 996TT axles fit perfectly.

That is what you call "EYE CANDY" Looks great and I am amazed the axles fit. How did you manage that magician trick, nothing ever seems to fit exactly when you make these kinds of mods.

Hi Tony,

Amazing build and parts!

Guessing the drive shaft fitment is good with the new clutch pack?

Cheers,
Constantine

The driveshaft fits the same no matter the clutch as it simply runs into the pilot bearing. I'm using the same bell housing I had before (one that's not broken that is...), so everything fit the same.

The only difference was the throwout bearing assembly as it's specific to to a C5 running the mini twin clutch (which you see in blue).

Anyway, thanks for all our help on the new TT. Looked great (which you can see in the pics).

Hi Tony,

Noticed all the non-stock gear in there and was hoping the disks and pilot bearing fitment were all good for a stock drive shaft configuration.

Sometimes the clearances are not correct in V8 conversions and the drive shaft gets chewed up.

I'm sure with this level of work, everything is being looked after.

Can't wait to hear about your drives on the track!

Have fun,
Constantine
