7.24.13

Things keep moving forward.

Window net, shifter, balance bar cable, rear hatch and more...

The window net has a spring loaded slider bar. Just grab the handle and pull back and it drops down but stays hinged by the heim joint. This allows for you to be strapped in and secure the window net without having to use your eyes or be a contortionist.

The hatch opens like shown and is fastened down by some recessed latches (not installed yet). The rear has a hinge, but also a pair of push pins (which you can see) which when pulled out allow you to simply remove the hatch entirely.

The hinge feature allow us to get in there quickly to adjust what ever or access the cool suit cooler w/o having to remove the rear hatch or touch the wing.

And BTW... that's not the wing that's going to be installed. That wing is just a mockup wing.

I've seen it...no argument from me.
Like the wing/hatch setup.

Can you rig up a system to have it open under braking?

Tony, I've been thinking about this since you posted it, and I don't know anything about these, but is there a risk that the top bar of this window net could trap you in a theoretical front impact that bent the car enough for that bar to get pinched in place?

I know that would be a pretty big impact, but if this isn't a usual mechanism, what about putting a hood pin-style clip on the heim joint to hold it on instead of the bolt, so that it could be removed if that happened?

No question that it would take a hard hit. And I freely admit that I don't know anything about these, but I thought I would share it, just in case it could be a valid concern. I was thinking more of the rescue workers in that situation.

The build must be getting close...

7.31.13

More updates...

New 2012 GT3 Cup front uprights installed. New JRZ RS Pro shocks installed, rear hatch finished with supports and latches, fuel drain line and fitting installed and a few other things....

Starting to look like a race car.

If I ever hear someone refer to a 944/951 as a "poor man's Porsche" ever again, I am going to point them to this thread.
