My current plan is to drive my car for another month then winter will be here and I will parking the 951 for a few months. During this time I will pull my motor, tear it down and inspect it for any issues.
Then I will be changing the crank to an offset grind 3L crank, changing the pistons, and changing turbos. I have run all the numbers and everything looks good. Updated motor will be a 3.15L with 8.27 CR and will be non-interference (wo fly cutting).
These changes will be pretty cost effective as I am only replacing changed components. Block will be unchanged. I will also be installing my refurbished wiring harness.

Dude, you are on it!!
Can't wait to see how it works out. That is my plan too, but I may focus on some other things first.
The torque should be over 500lb ft for a wide power band too.
I'm anxious to see it come together for you..

So how about after inspection putting it back together and building a second motor? Sell the first???? If the current motor turns out to be good upon inspection. Seems a shame to not build a second....but thats just me and of course I there maybe good reasons to do what your planning not judging just throwing out the question.

Ah good to hear. I just emailed a PC member here in Calgary....Going to try out the route you guys have gone.....400.00 for pistons makes me smile and I'm assuming thats for 8 pistons. It snowed here so cars are parked

Are you racing me or something..lol..
Nice pickup.
Remember, you may have to take some material off the counterweights depending on the pistons.
There are a couple other things too. I'm sure we'll be talking soon.
Anyway, this is awesome!!!

Where did you source your sleeves from? You said they were like $20 apiece and generic...I contacted Darton as they are local to me and just the sleeves for a 944 unfinished at 101.5mm is $800 for the set of 4, and another $750 to install...

Basic iron sleeves, my machine shop supplied them. The are a common item. Ask your machinist, if you are using a knowledge shop the will have a catalog.
