Are 951 and 968 doors the same?

Correct, well at least you'd be advised not to run f/g or c/f doors on a road car. Looking at the door that suffered in the crash shows just how strong the door bar is in the OEM versions. At first I thought it was an imprint from the cage but the cage wasn't even touched and the door was very snug up close to the cage on the inside.
On another note we had some issues fitting the 2nd lot of c/f doors I have had made up. This was highly disheartening after all the trouble and expense I went through to buy, import, and then try and 'fix' the first set from RS Racing. The new set are made locally and fit a lot better as you can see in the pics on my friend's 968. However we have added a few bits and pieces to my current car which created a couple of issues but I'm told that they have been rectified and all is well. While not quite as light as the RS Racing versions they are waaaaaaaay lighter than stock. I anticipate at least a 50lb advantage if not more. The old car weighed 2630lbs wet, no driver. The new one is going to be quite a bit lighter again. Can't wait for it to be finished for a number of obvious reasons, but the new weight will be pretty interesting.
1st pic is crashed oem door showing door bar impression.
Pics 2 & 3 is the RS Racing c/f doors which were incredibly light but just not good enough on many levels. Very disappointing and an expensive failure!
Other pics are of the new doors which you can see are far better. We also own the molds for these for what it's worth.

What, the crash or the doors? Both old news unfortunately Darwin. Just over a year ago. Been off the track since. Rebuilding version 3 of GO-952...it will be worth the wait. Maybe another 2 months or less.

Sorry to hear about your crash. Those carbon doors look like they fit very nice.
There is a car here in Calgary with I believe a 924 door fitted to a 951 and it does not fit quite right. I will check with him on that I am sure it wasn't a 968 door on a 951 ....I know your post is about 951 to 968 just figure more info the better.

I can't take any credit, except for saying "Yes" when the other guy suggested we get them done and then pony'ing up something like $2.5k for half the costs. Getting stuff made from scratch is not cheap.
Oh, so I should show you guys some more recent pics of Zoran's turbo 968 which he's spent a lot of time and money on. He's recently been making full on custom molds for widebody panels. He can fit super wide wheel/tyres on the rear. Not sure quite how much he's added to the front but I'd be guessing he can run at least 11.5" fronts and 13.5" rears!

Good lord. Patrick, glad to hear your car is finally nearing completion.
To the gentleman who asked about the door weatherstripping: it is different between 968 and 944. The weatherstripping will actually fit either one interchangeably, but the design was different: the 968 rubber "filled in" the gap between the door and chassis more fully. I have a few friends who used 968 rubber in their 951. Looks nice.

On the last picture Patrick, it looks like he used the 944 version rear on the 968. You can see the difference in the quarter windows. Wonder why he did that.

Quarter question
That's actually a 968 quarter. The quarter glass will cover the upward sweep of the bottom of the window. Also, see the rear, bottom edge of the quarter where it's cut off to accept the rear bumper cap.

I'm pretty sure that Rick is right Alex. If not, I don't have an immediate explanation. He is very particular about mods to his car so whatever it is, it will be a Very Sharp car once completed this latest lot of modifications.

Doh, I had the 944 vs 968 differences backwards. It almost looks like it's got both of them on it (968 cutout on the panel, 944 on the chassis) but that's probably just the paint/masking/something.
