"Jiggle the connectors" solved...
Just in case there was any wonder WHY jiggling the reference sensors has a tendency to resurrect a non-starting, no-tach-bounce, car... see attached.
I already re-ran fresh wires (with new connectors, etc.) for one of the sensors. Now I'm doing the other one. I peeled back the boot and the red circle is what I saw.
No wonder "jiggling the wires" works. They probably short out against one another. Moving them around breaks the short.
I've seen a few comments in threads lately about it - so I'll echo them: might be time to replace the entire reference sensor portion of your wiring harness the next time you do reference sensors. I'd be all over the Lindsey kit if I didn't already have the connectors and shielded wire kicking around.

Be careful to take out the extra length. If you do not, it will drop into the turbo area and melt the leads.
...was very close to bastardizing the car into an LS swapped solution.
Melted ref wires would not be welcome after getting this back together.

Instead of just crimping on the terminal, putting it in the connector, and installing the boot, the Porsche harness encases the ends of the wires in a hard, solid epoxy. When things bounce around under the hood, the wires bend against the hard epoxy and eventually fray and break. To make it worse, this all happens under the pretty black rubber boots, making people think the connector is like new...

I just ordered the cheaper sensors from PP, which I suspect are BMW due to the extra length quoted.
Also, has anyone ordered the updated sensor bracket from PP or LR?
Is the sleeve still necessary for EMI?
The bracket description suggests NO, but the sleeve description suggests yes.
I also read that TechnoDuck DID add the sleeve when replacing the bracket.

You definitely don't want to CUT anything
Zip-ties are probably the best way to go.
Not sure what the updated sensor bracket is, or this "sleeve" - got links?

and don't both with the replacement ends. I did it. What a waste. Went with the Facet replacements ($40 each) and was done in 10 minutes...
Wasted two hours with the replacement ends. While they 'worked', it was a pita, and I didn't trust it as much as a properly molded/formed end.
