Default The 18" wheel question

So, I thought I would find ample info on this topic about how people feel about putting 17" or even 18" wheels on a 951 when I searched, but theres really not too much out there. The only things I could find are about N/As and how 18"s make the N/A feel low on power mostly.

On the other side of things, I realize from alot of people's pictures that a fair number of people are running 18's. What are your opinions? in particular, how much rougher is the ride? I live in an area where theres many rough streets, but I've got my eye on a particular set of 18's...If I go for them, I'd be upgrading to the 968 castor blocks too.

I realize that the main motivating factor is looks, yes.

The main motivating factor for me was tire selection and getting as much rubber width under the car as possible. As for whether or not the ride is compromised, I can't comment, that ship sailed long ago. There is no rubber in my suspension. Not even polyurethane. Everything is solid. Plus upped spring rates. The larger rims with less sidewall are the least of my ride comfort problems.

Did you notice a big difference in braking / acceleration performance?

With my suspension set up it was already a harder ride but that's the feel I want and the 18's I run didn't make much difference in ride feel.

The factory 16's are MUCH more forgiving, just look at the sidewall. My CCW's are really (in all fairness) too soft for the street. I've bent three of the four and one or two more than once. But I wouldn't go back though I wouldn't mind a stronger wheel meant for the street.

I didn't notice an appreciable feel in accel/decel. A little more harsh, but worth it as it isn't my DD. I did notice a complete lack of people thinking its a 924.

I don't think I'll consider going back, even if I could find cheap rubber for the PDs.
