It should be fun. I'm just a spectator. My coworker is running his GTR. I think he will be top 10-15 territory. It will be interesting. I don't have much experience with drag racing, let alone 1/8 mile. I've heard some of these "street cars" are hardly streetable. They should require the top 10 cars do a 50 mile cruise to keep their positions. Oh well. See ya there.

Great to meet you today. That has to be one of the coolest shops I've been to!!

Today was one of the funnest days I've had. I do wish that it was at least a 1/4 mile but I learned a lot about getting my car to work off the line and how to keep up with some of the big boys. Next time I will be a lot more prepared.

Oh and for how I faired against LSX power. Well lets just say that it took a single 91 mm turbo 404 ci Camaro with a lot of suspension work to beat me..... By one car length,,, and I was reeling him in..

There is a video on FB but it wont link on here for some reason

me and a twin turbo fox body 331 ci. second run after I got him by about 3 cars the first run.

Unbelievable. A 951 in 1/8 mile! Did you place? That last run video is amazing.

Shawn, I was knocked by a back halfed little box nova with a 434 sbc and 300 prgresive nitrous system. It was a single elimination setup to get on the list. Hiis car ran high nines and hooked up good on the street.

I think he ended up at 14 on the list.

I grudge raced about 12 cars overall. I couldn't get everything perfect, but I came a long way in a short time. I went from doing a John force burnout from 60' out to getting it rolling. I wasn't able to turn up the boost like I wanted because it would just start smoking the tires once boost came on in second gear.

Speed based boost controller anyone

Have you ever considered running nitrous?

Funny you say that, bc I was talking with my gf about that very thing on the way home last night. I ran it for years in my old drag cars, so I know how to tune it well. For these 1/8th mile events I may very well put a small shot to it to recover the shifts a little better. I have a ton of old parts too, so it'll be easy. I'm not sure how seriously I'll take this event though. Wrong tool for sure. But I did open some eyes.

Boost recovery? Do you lift when you shift?
I wonder if it's possible to have a dual map chip on these cars?

Yes Dave i do lift when I shift.

You can see through the various videos that I started using the two step as the day went on. I had been so hesitant to it (for some crazy unknown reason). Once I did i was able to get out quicker by far. I just hadn't gotten the flat foot shifting down yet. If you watch the videos above, you can clearly see I lose ground on both shfts then it comes back. There are at least three races that I'm pretty sure I would have won (both of the above included) if I could have shifted to third better. the problem was that I have the switch on the dash and uses the clutch for trigger. My two step is set to 4200 which is a little too low to be on while shifting (unless flat foot shifting) so the turbo has to recover. When I hit third without the two step engaged it really builds rpms quicker.

If all that makes sense.

I will be practicing with it.

Duals map chip? To control what?

A dual map chip would be one method to get a stutterbox and nlts feature, but I see that you have that already.
I'd definitely recommend using it. Even on small, quick spooling turbos you can feel the difference in boost recovery between shifts.
