Default R32 in 951?

Ok, I know I just spent 5k on mods for my car but my brother just sold me his fully built r32 turbo that put out 580whp in his mk3 gti. It's the same as a vr6 so I'm thinking about doing the swap. I heard someone has done the vr6 swap in 951 before. I figure it will cost me another 5k to build a 450whp 2.7L. If its to much work I'll throw it in a mk2 gti but I rather have that hp in my 951. What do you guys think.

personally if I was going to spend 5k I would drop in a chevy v8. Honestly its your car follow your heart. If you wish to do a vr6 swap go for it, there is a person on here who is currently going through the swap so it can be done. The Porsche engine has a lot of potential so either way you build you will have a nice fast car.
Porsche engine will usually be the best case if you ever get rid of it. VR6 is good just because it fun to do engine swaps lol.

Your title is screwy. And I think it would take quite a bit more than 5k to put the VR6 into the 944. R32 is the vehicle designation (taking into account engine displacement), it is a VR6 and should be a BFH or BML block if you want to verify that it was originally from an R32.

The R32 engines are some of the best sounding prodution engines ever "in my opinion" . Good luck with that build .

the sound is pretty cool. but compared to the ls series by chevy, they are just impossible to beat for power.

Ls is a great motor but I have a ls3 in my 67 camaro that cost me close to 10k with everything. And that's only putting out around 500hp. I paid 4500 for the vw engine that produced 580whp. I don't even know if the tranny can handle that much power. I'll enjoy the car with the setup it has for the summer before I decide.

in either case, you have some fabbing to do. and that can be VERY costly if you cannot do it yourself or have a freind in the business.

Most full turbo kits fIr the VR6 from reputable places are about three times as much as you paid for that engine. Is the turbo set-up from a company or is it hashed together?

I guess I'm the only person who thinks those VR6 motors sound awful.

Hmm they are not all rubbish, the flatmate has built an RB30DET and is making over 1000WHP at the wheels. Though it would be a heavy motor and long...

I would like to see a 944 with a 26B rotor! That would be awesome.
