Default boost by gear, well sort of. good for Dragracing.

As you know i've got an eBoost2, and i haven't really played with all of it's features yet.. There's a lot!

I was just driving (enthusiastically) home from a club 3am and couldn't help but notice how the boost acts differently in gears (we all know this) but because i can set where the waste gate opens via the eBoost2, and where it's set how at 13.5 psi it spikes to 18.5+ psi then drops to 17.5 where it's set at in 2nd gear. in 3rd it doesn't spike but it'll hit 15-16 psi then climb up to 17.5. 4th gear it'll hit 13.5 psi then climb to 17.5 which isn't good.

i could set all the 6 set points to fix this but it requires flicking a switch each time i change gear which really is dangerous while driving.

so i was reading though the PDF file (found on the website) and figured out how i can boost by gear when driving enthusiastically.

Basically the eBoost2 has an AUX external switch to switch on anything like a shift light to meth/water injection at a selected RPM or Boost point.
So i usually shift between 6000-6500 rpm so i could set the switch to activate at 6000 rpm (goes by 500rpm increments) to toggle a relay to then toggle the external Switch that increases the set point by 1 so when i get to the next gear the boost will get on sharper and quicker.

Here's the diagram i've drawn up quickly.

It would be good to use for drag racing at the strip to minimise wheel spin at the line and shifting into 2nd and 3rd.

All of my friends with big HP honda's use this. But then again, it's hard to get traction with wrong wheel drive and any horsepower let alone the 500+ that one of them runs.

the unit is pretty good for drag racing. let alone track also. with boost to pass on demand.

I just id share this idea with the drag gurus here

They just use the Honda ECU and a solenoid. It's amazing what you can do with a Honda ECU, but then again they've got a very strong aftermarket and lots of people working on them. Similar to LSx ECU's too.

You just need a vehicle/wheel speed sensor and tach to know what gear you are in.

Thought about it, very complicated to do. if you change from 3rd to 5th for example the eBoost2 won't know, it'l think you're in 4th.

How does the eBoost differ from a standard EBC?

It's just a lookup table. For each rpm and speed there's only one gear it can be in.

well since most/all EBCs come with over boost protection, alarms and stuff.
the eBoost2 has 6 different boost settings, all programable. you can change the switching logic e.g. my external switch:1 goes 1,2,3,4,5,6, then switch 2 goes 6,5,4,3,2,1. you can make switch 2 reset back to 1. you can have it timed to change via seconds, via rpm. theres an AUX wire to switch on external devices such as meth injection at specific boost levels or rpm levels. you can also have 4 different boost settings with 4 different switches on the fly.

The apex AVC-R does most of this but not all. just has a better interface.

and it also controls boost unto 60 psi.

That gas lock gear **** is pretty cool but theres no external switch for boost by gear option.

Aleks, yeah that's one of the ways to do it, but for our cars id say it gets a little more complex.

That is how I have been using it, I set up two buttons, one up and on down, for sequential boost control. With 6 settings I program them for 10,12,14,16,18 & 20. You can step thought them sequentially so you can have pretty much any boost setting you want.

I have also found that the Eboost2 does a good job keeping the boost the same in each gear.

Chris, when you set up yours, At how much psi do you give the waste gate to open before your full boost target? some say ~3 psi some day ~5psi mine is 6psi before its target.
