Default 951 Clutch Replacement - Parts Costs

Hey All,

I'm about to replace the clutch in my 87 951, and here's the parts list and prices I'm considering investing in from 944online. Let me know if you think this is a good deal, and/or if there's anything else I should replace while I'm in there:

Cup Clutch Kit (clutch disc press plate, pilot bearing, release bearing&sleeve, rear main seal): $995
Rebuilt Flywheel: $169
Slave Cylinder: $109
Clutch Master Cylinder: $109

I was going to get an aluminum flywheel but the guy at 944online talked me out of it, stating that it only offers a marginal upgrade.

Suggestions/comments?

Thanks,
Jay

Cheapest i could find
Throwout was $225
930 disk cost $70
Clutch fork bearings Forget how much

Do your slave and master cylinders need replacement?

Do some research and see how much you can buy those parts individually. Cup disk seems very expensive for what you get

You'll probably want a new (refurbished) clutch fork too, with shaft & bearings. Zims sells a rebuilt/reinforced/re-hardened fork for a reasonable price, you just have to return your re-usable core after you are done for a refund. That cup clutch kit sounds a little expensive too... Zims sells that same combo minus the pilot bearing for $765.

Just so proper terms are used, the pilot bearing is only $7 and goes in the end of the crankshaft.

Here's what I found:

Paragon - $202
Pelican - $186
Zims - $177

All for Turbo.

I have heard about people getting their clutch discs resurfaced. Might be an option for you? Didn't know the clutch discs were so expensive on these cars.

Sorry... was reading too fast. I don't know why, but they don't show the 944 Turbo fork on their website. They should, because it's a good deal. I think it's $175 plus a rebuildable core.

Don't forget new flywheel bolts, and pressure plate bolts, and the guide tube that goes inside the bell housing. Southbend turns around disks so fast by mail that they may very well beat your local resurfacing place.
