951 fuel pump pressure and functionning
Hello to all,
Does anybody know the output fuel pressure of a 951 pump, also can someone explain to me how the fuel alimentation works on a 951:
-does the pump run all the time?
-what is the purpose of the accumulator?
Thanks
Mihai

Although I'm not an expert on the pump pressure, etc. I can tell you through a recent frustrating experience how the pump works.
The pump should be relatively quiet. It pumps continuously. If the system reaches full pressure and does not require more fuel for the engine then the accumulator (?) located on the fuel rail opens and returns the fuel back to the tank.
My vacuum line melted and was not able to provide the necessary assist to the accumulator relief valve. The reuslt was that I blew out the ends of two fuel pumps until I figured it out.
The accumlator was less than $50 and fixed the problem right up. Best wishes! -MB
