951 pistons
 

Anyone have any ideas about where I should buye new pistons for my 951? About how much should I expect to pay? Thanks!
Oh, and if any of you want to give a broke college student a job so he can finance his porsche hobbie, that would be great too! :cool:

I paid $500CAN each for new factory 0.5mm oversize (100.5mm) pistons in Canada. That's about $300US to $350US each for you. I had a scored cylinder, so I had to have my cylinders bored out and therefore needed oversize pistons. I've still got my original pisons if you want to buy some used ones. They're out of a 1989 944 TurboS w/ 75,000 miles.

I bought a set of 100.5 (1st oversize) 951 pistons from Powerhaus a month or so back. They'll cost you about $1695.00 for a set inc rings.

call EBS. They are advertised in Excellence and i believe Pano. If i remember right i paid $600-750 for a set 1 overs. Man, you should have checked around before you bought anything from Powerhaus! Garrity, who visits this board occasionaly, has a hook on some real nice pistons that are probably even cheaper but definitely nicer. He can be reached at garrity928@primary.net

The EBS pistons are JE Forged pistons and they (and JE) will tell you that you will need to sleeve your block if you use those pistons. Reason is due to the different thermal expansion characteristics of the custom pistons, its different to the stock piston because of the materials used in its construction. I did not want to sleeve my block so I paid for the stock coated pistons therefore I will be able to retain a silicum honed finish and tight piston skirt-cylinder wall clearances when the cylinders are bored over. These are not options when steel sleeves are used.

Yeah, JE has quite a market for pistons. But the issue is the correct matching of surfaces. Their aluminum pistons likes to ride against steel/iron, hence the sleeves. Our Porsches are the other way around with aluminum bores which requires an iron coating on the piston itself.
