Post Quickie boost question

On my recently purchased 86 951, I have noticed the boost gauge peaks at about 1.5-1.8 bar. The previous owner said the car was stock except for the mainfold, which he replaced with a stainless one. My question: I know this is a lot of boost, but is it something to worry about?

Nope, that's perfectly normal. Your boost gauge reads absolute pressure, so 1bar = zero boost. To convert to normally-used PSI rating, remove 1 bar and multiply by 14.5psi. So 1.8bar boost = 1.8-1 = 0.8*14.5psi = 11.6psi.

BTW: 1bar is not the same as 1 atm...

Stainless manifold... must be talking about a new set of headers and not an intake... right?
