More importantly.. I wonder how many shops perform a leakdown without oiling the cylinders if the resuslts are poor..

I know of at least one other engine that was fully rebuilt due to a bad leakdown test... sad part being it was an under 1000 mile motor, that hadn't run in some time.

The leakdown in that case was performed cold, and dry....

How often has he added oil.. I bet never as he already stated he has only driven 50 miles since purchasing the car...

Crap, I missed that part. I'm VERY skeptical of the low compression claim. I've just never heard of a car that A) wouldn't run at all due to low compression and B) had nearly identical low compression numbers on all cylinders.

These engines are pretty good about keeping good numbers. They are usually rebuilt because of a spun #2!

Anyone have a good used engine for sale?

This one is done. I need to either find a used engine to swap, or sell the car.

Which one would you recommend, beside Comeau Racing or SFR I don't know anybody else now that Vision Motor Sports is not doing 944's anymore

I like Comeau racing, and have also used SFR.

Tim helps at SFR because he is driving distance away.

I use Black Forest. Although I usually do all my own wrenching, they are currently taking care of my recent belt tensioner failure/bent valve issue. Good honest company and are very active in the race community.

Tim Comeau is a great guy. He's an NA expert and Spec 944 racer with a ton of knowledge. Always willing to offer a hand or advice.

Yea, I forgot about the Black Forest in San Diego is a great shop, there is a bad one though, black Forrest in Florida not recommended they are not related but easy to confuse the name.
