The car is an '87 with 130k miles.

Basics:
Trans with LSD/cooler
Full leather seats front and back
Engine runs good
no real records
mostly stock except for Boxster wheels and exhaust

Bad:
-Damage to drivers side wheel well. Wheel got pushed into firewall a little. Suspension has been fixed but firewall will need to be pulled because it interferes with clutch pedal operation

- airbags went off
- both fenders bad. Front header and nose panel also bad.
- needs windshield

What is it worth and is it a better candidate for parting or restoring?

I would say it is worth 2k as it sits and would recommend parting it with a tweaked firewall.

I think 2k is generous. Part it, tweaked firewall it's not worth putting in the major money that car needs when you could find a body that was straight with decent paint and not tweaked... Much easier to swap a motor than straighten that out, + it already started corroding.

I went down this same road with my 87 951. We were in an accident and it was totalled. I bought it from the insurance company for next to nothing, then over the next several years went about repairing the damage. In the end I have a great running 951 with a fair body and a lot of time and money in it. I would have been much better off parting it out and buying a nicer car.

I don't say this lightly, part it.
