Patrick, I just picked up TIG two months ago, I know it's not easy and I admire the welding on the cage, I'd love to be learning from that guy. What thickness/diameter/material was the tubing and plate used?

320'S!?? Good lord. I might go 305's in the rear. 275-305 in the front depending on what happens with the missing rim I need. .

On a side note.. I bought 2 more rims like my last post, but they were 18x10's ......$59.00 ea!!!!! lol So, if all else fails. I will have 10's in front and 11.5's in the rear.

If one of the deals comes through. I will be putting the 11.5's in the front and 12's in the rear.

I think in our quest to keep the tires warm, we will HAVE to become better drivers.

Jealousy comes nowhere close to describing how I feel about the deal you got on your set of wheels. You probably have less into all 4 (or 5?) wheels than some do in a single wheel.

Can't help you on this matter unfortunately. It's made to satisfy our National Race body (C.A.M.S.). It's not Chromolly is all I can say.

That's a great deal Bruce, providing they're built well. What brand are they?
As for the width / heat issue...well having not driven on them I can't speak from experience but I don't think it will be a problem. I've wondered by going lighter whether this will affect the tyre temps but I think with extra downforce and a few other changes, it should be ok.

Pat, I'm curious why you went with 11.5 rears? Theres room for 13s with the right offset, which would suit a 320 better?

Well my intention was to build it to race in Prod Sports which has a limitation of 44" all round. I didn't want to go 10"s/12"s so I came up with the odd sizes. If Fikse were a little bit closer than Canada, I'd consider sending them back and changing them. Funny thing is that Broadfoot say they use 11"s on the front with those flares, but only 285mm up front. As you can see a few pages back, Tony G fits 315s on the front under OEM looking fenders that are only 1" wider. His offset has a very small margin between wheel and spring. I took a few pics recently to try and get an idea of the space I have. Seems like I've got some margin up front. I'm sure in the rears too. All I really want to do is get the car back on the track sooner rather than later. Might have to make some changes next year to the wheels.

Ah ok. I read recently about the 44 inch limit which applies to Marque Sports Cars as well. Bit of a nuisance in my case having gone with 12s and 11s CCWs. I might have to run the 10 inch Enkeis on the front if I go racing here, just need to set the car up differently.

I tend to think choosing a tire width that suits the rim and reduces side wall flexing is preferable to just fitting the maximum rubber physically possible. For race slicks I personally I would go down to a 285 to 300 max on 11.5s. You will get more even tire wear and more predicatable handling.

Anyway, I am sure you will still find a setup that works with what you have! BTW I am jealous of your roll cage

While there has been a few weeks work done on the car lately, it's mostly wiring and mounting of sensors. Didn't bother taking too many pics of those just yet. Wait until it's all rewired and mounted.

Thought this pic showing rare access to the turbo etc while 2.5L motor installed in car might be a bit novel. Won't be quite the finished article but you get a good look at it now. Also converted the rear wheel well for fuel system. Ethanol sensor to also get mounted in there.

Looking good Pat!
What brand swivels and lines are you using?

Have you ever taken the V-band off from the xover to the turbo, mine didn't want to come off when i had to re-seal the headers to X-over.

I didn't purchase the hardware Paulyy but I'm sure it's the good gear. As for the Vband, well Sean has taken it on and off a few times but don't know the actual degree of difficulty? He might pipe in on that.

with that large fuel system, you planning on upping the power with the 2.5 or swapping a 3L into it? this thing will move!

Everything is being put into place to run the larger motor. The whole system is being 'future-proofed'....not cheap!!
