Post chip question? stock?

hi all,

I am pretty confident that I do not have chips. I have a couple offers standing for a cheap set of chips (and I dont want to make any one wait).

With my klr and dme's cracked open in front of me, the brown chip is the one that gets replaced, right?

The # on the stickers of them read, 1267355235, 1267355138 for the dme and klr respectively. Are these stock chips?

I have a turbo on the way And for the time being, I would just like to have a chip that would kick out a little more fuel.

with these chips I dont seem to hit a fuel cut off until around 20lbs, unintentional .

Well, one of the primary reasons to get aftermarket chips is to defeat the stock overboost protection. Since that's not hampering you, I wouldn't waste money on chips (especially Autothority, yecchhk You're primarily going to be dialing in your fuel-mixture with the adjustable FPR and ARC2 (or adjustment screw on your MAF). You might want to just dial back the ignition 3 degrees with the FQS and that should do it. Maybe 6 degrees if you want to run 20-psi of boost. Hop on the dyno and accurately measure your air-fuel ratio to dial it in perfectly to 12.5:1, but that should be it as far as tuning adjustments.

I've recently checked out the timing and ignition maps for some of the main aftermarket chips and the timing and fuel tables are downright scary. I'd be real cautious about just throwing any old chip in that DME. Kinda like eating a chicken Nugget when you can't find the Nugget on the chicken. Do you actually know what you're getting?

Best bet is to have a custom chip made from someone who actually has a clue and who sets them up for u at a specific boost value. Maybe SFR will come out with some good chips for your turbo pretty soon. $300 is probably reasonable if the chip gives you the correct air/fuel and timing (so you're not detonating).

if I dialed anything more than 15lbs, before, I could deffinately either feel an ignition retard or there just wasn't enough fuel there(no cut off though). I went ahead and bought some huntley chips. I am anxious to see what they do.

Although, I will be waiting for SFR to be able to burn me a set that would better talor to my setup. Maybe I'll go the sds route or the GTA route before this happens.

We plan on burning chips for each car that has the removeable eprom. The staements above are exactly why SFR has invested in a complete setup, to make our own chips. THere are just TOO MANY CLONES on the market!

Our goal is to:

1-Make a chip that won't harm the engine!
2-Make Power!
3-NA Models) make power, or be able to say...SAVE YOUR CASH!
4-If possible make different levels of chips for the boosted cars!
5-Make a chip that will actually run in place of the ARCII for those of you that prefer this method of upgrade (another tuner making SC kits is having quite a time at making the setup run with a "BLACKBOX" plug and play gizmo)
6- Make this chip available so cheap it makes you think their HOT!

Take Care All!

Gosh, I must have prototype SFR chips! I guess that is why my air/fuel is so screwy.

If you can sell chips in the $150 range then you will sell them like crazy. Lets keep these under $200.
