I guess the dry sump pic goes here. You can see where I fit the pan part inside the flange I cut out as stated above. I went fast on the welds.. I can do better, but its for me, so I didn't really care yesterday. I wanted it finished. So. Finished. Next. WHERE ARE MY HEADS! Slow bastards.

Nice job! I always love seeing custom work to adapt parts and make things work!

Normally you have to slant the driver's side pan area to clear the X-member steering rack boss to get the engine to set lower and clear the hood.

Oh not mine.. Go to my winter project pics and look at my crossmember. Also, my LS will sit 4" further back than anyone else. Clears the hood by leaps and bounds.

Nice. I didn't see your winter pics thread. What BH are you going to use and will you cut the tunnel out?

BH? Oh. Bell housing. All Tilton Custom stuff. 5.5" 4 Disc. My custom Aluminum Torque tube (also another thread) will be finished to fit this piece.

The Firewall gives me room. It is stock. There is a small spot that has been reshaped.

Ha .. Thank you Sir. Purty is the last thing to happen. But it will happen. That's the real exciting part.

I'll believe that when I see it. It's been 8-9 months now. ;-)

HAHA. Yeah true. That damn thing sat for months at 2 machine shops until they both decided they couldn't do it. But now I'm VERY glad that happened, otherwise it would have been cut for the 951 bellhousing and not the Tilton one. So it worked out. I'm now at the point where I have to have this done soon, so it's being forced up the chain of prioirity. Hopefully you will be a believer soon.

Thank you. That's just my everyday welds now. Nothing fancy. I truly work hard on the customers intakes to make them look nice. It's all about making sure everything is set in a steady position for those.

I got to degree in the cam today. It was kinda fun. I haven't worked on a V8 in ages. So easy. Did all the steps to get true top dead center. I made a lifter welded to a cut pushrod that would server as a solid lifter to measure cam lift. Easy enough since I have a whole extra used set doing nothing that I was going to throw away anyway.

Cam was exactly as advertised. It had 2.5 degrees of advance ground in. I brought it back to zero. I truly don't care about any extra retarded torque in the midrange. lol. I will just lose traction coming out of corners with it as it is. More than necessary is just ridiculous. I might prove that wrong later, but I'm pretty damn sure of it as it stands. So...used my adjustable double roller gear and brought it back to just.5 degrees advanced. I can only adjust 2 degrees at a time, so .5 advanced is no big deal anyway.

So. She's now degreed in. Set to where I want for a bit more top end. Tightened down and ready to push the valves around.

If you look in the pics, you can see where I CNC'd out the top of an extra piston I have (not going to be used) so when I get my heads back, I can throw some clay in there and measure my Piston to Valve clearance so I can add in my safety clearance and only Fly cut the pistons as much as I need and not any more to retain all that compression I'm fighting for.

Here are the pics from today.

Here's the lifter I made for measuring cam height.

And some pics of the degree wheel and how the cam is adjusted. If you look close you can see the -2 deg adjustment set.

Small update. YAY> the heads are close to finished. Should be early next week. Here are some Pics. The combustion chambers were cut to resemble the C5R heads. Polished. Those are Ferrea Stainless Hollows. We just cc'd the chambers.. whoo hooo. 55cc's. Means 12.6:1 (.040 crush gasket) Pretty happy with that.

Here are the Pics..

Looking pretty spiffy!! Should make some nice power. Not to mention the sound of a high compression ls engine...very sweet.

No turbos needed. This and the cam and Valvetrain, all matched up is where I plan most of my power to take place.

That and the minimal accessories. - Alternator and Dry sump pump only..
15 total pounds for flywheel and clutch.

It should rev up and down pretty quick!
