Tips for removing speedo needle?

Tips for removing speedo needle?
I've broken one in the past and this time I've tried "gently prying" as Clark instructs with no luck. I'm thinking of using a can of compressed air upside down to cool the shaft then pry the needle off.

when i did mine, i had 2 fingers and a thumb on the black bit, pressed down on the face (not the needle) with the tips of my fingers, while pressing down i squeesed the black bit and pulled at the same time.
if that makes any sence!

Twist the needle counter clockwise while pulling outwords on it... a little light pressure and it comes right off!
I have removed about a dozen of them this way without a single problem!
Take a picture of the needle to face before you remove the needle, this helps align it when putting it back on afterwords!
