fuel/boost problem
i expect this problem has occured before, but I didnt know what to search for in the topics,
Anyway when im in say 5th gear and floor the pedal to overtake the car feels like its hit a brick wall, the fuel is being shut off?,or maybe a boost problem,
but when I let the pedal up back to say half way and more, it carries on as normal- this happened the first time the other day for about a minute and then it was ok again.
Ive never had the problem before and the car has been 100% reliable for the 3 years I've had it-
Anyone can help or point me in the right direction?
thanks

Does it happen only in 5th gear? Does it happen in 4th gear? If you add a little left-foot braking in 4th gear under full-throttle does it do it? At what boost-pressure does this start to occur?

To check if it is a genuine overboost protection fuel cut do the following. next time it happens keep driving, don't stop the car and turn off the ignition, let the boost come up again if it cuts at around 1.2 bar repeatedly then you had a real overboost fuel cut and are now in a sort of limp mode. To clear it stop the car turn engine off and start again, if you can now go above 1.2 bar boost that confirms a geniune overboost fuel cut.
If this is not the case then you probably have some kind of air problem, as in a split hose somewhere in the turbo plumbing. <img src="graemlins/yltype.gif" border="0" alt="[typing]" />

thanks for tips- Danno I woll try those things next time it happens-I dont know whether it happened in only 5th gear- if I remember I backed off tried again- same thing then changed down to fourth it was ok ,changed to fifth and it was ok.
Im getting the car serviced on monday so maybe theyll pick something although I have to admit I have more faith in the people on this board.
I will keep you posted.
Meanwhile any reports on Gurus MAP kit yet, as Im still waiting to purchase one pending reports.
Danno whats the situation- can i get one yet?
