Post Turbo Question

I bought what is supposed to be a k27/8 turbo but I am questioning the hot side. I think it might be a 6 and not an 8. How big should the hole be? There is a number cast in the housing that is either a 6 or a poorly cast 8.

Fellow Calgarian!

You can bring it to Alpine Autowerks, Marc would be able to tell you right away. Got more info on your 951??

Hi Sheldon. My car is actually all in pieces at Marc's right now. I was over there tonight delivering my overbore pistons and k27/8 turbo. The only thing is I don't think the hot side is a #8. Marc didn't know what size the hot side was either. We both suspect it might be a 6 - which is not what I paid for. I need someone to verify the #8 outlet size. It either that or wait for Mark to pull the k26/8 off my 1989 951 and compare it's hot side to the new turbo. We'll have to meet sometime and swap engine mod ideas. I'm considering a few things - not as radical as you however. I see you met another buddy of mine (Doug Pell) at your dyno day. He's got a pristine 1990 951. You should join the local PCA - it would be nice to have another 951 in the group.

Hey Eric.

Yea, I saw your car today. Really nice! I looked at the turbo too, and the stamping definately looks like a 6 and not a badly stamped 8.

I was at Alpine this morning, my car blew yet another CV joint =).

Look just inside the lip of the inlet to the hot side and there will be a cast in number: 6, 8, 10. The 10 is unlikely but the 6 or 8 is common.
