Konstantin,
An 86 with 87 spindles and short arms is what was advertised to be on the car when I bought it. But then again it was supposed to have a cross drilled crank and the right set of rings. I guess all the silicone seal and metal debri were supposed to make up for the lack of the correct parts.
I will be putting the newly rebuilt engine back into the car next weekend. When I get it to Daves I'll photograph the setup and post the pics here. I'll note the part numbers on the arms.

The problem is that the part number that you see on the Control arm is not the part number that Porsche use :-(
Anyway i have them both. the 86 and the 88 C arm and i can check the number and see if tehy much with your numbers

[quote]according to rennlist response. it is not possible to us the 87 spidles with the 87 ofsset and still use the 86 control arm.

Hmmm, I think the primary cause of the 23.3mm earlier vs. 52.3mm later offsets comes from the A-arms. Here's a photo of the differences between the '86 and '87+ control arms:
I think both spindles have the same amount of protrusion from the strut's pivot axis through the balljoint.
Aside from the length issue, the '87+ arms use a 19mm balljoint pin vs. the earlier cars' 17mm pin. My guess is that you can use the '87+ spindle if you make a 1mm collar-type shim for the balljoint pin. Looks like after you install the '87+ hubs, you can still use 23.3mm offset wheels...
