Go down to your local AutoZone/Kragen's/Pep Boys/Napa auto parts and pick up a generic Bosch 3-wire sensor for $38. Cut off the wires and splice the connector from your old one on and that's it!

sounds good but i want to make sure that i have this right....all you do is cut the wires going to the old one and splice in the new sensor? are there 3 wires going to the old one? which new wires go to which old wires? thanks for your help.

Dave944t,
The new sensor should have 2 white wires and 1 black wire. Connect like colors. It doesn't matter which white wire goes where, so long as it's white to white.

I went to Autozone this afternoon and they told me they have 20 models of Bosch universal 3-wire O2 sensors. I said UNIVERSAL? They said "What make/model? I said "Porsche 944T" their reply "$169.99 special order..."
I bought a 89 Ford Taurus 2.5 ltr. FI. 3-wire O2 and spliced in the new sensor with like color wires and my car now runs smooth, AFM reads like it used to before the VP 116 leaded. Oh ya 39.95 in Phx. Just relating my personal experience. I would of saved a little time if I would have tied a cord around one of the ends before pulling the old one thru.

Just installed my new universal 4 wire Bosch O2 sensor today from Paragon Products for about 39 dollars. Installation was easy. I used an open ended wrench since the "expensive" O2 sensor socket does not clear the oil pan. The two whites and black wires hook directly to the same color as stock. The extra brown wire I grounded with the A/F ratio meter ground wire. The car runs smoother, the A/F dithers faster, and the car is more rich than with the old sensor at the same ARCII settings. I needed to turn down the high setting 2 clicks. Good luck.
