I am going to do some serious discussing with some shops here in town before I jump one way or the other. I have been on this a while though.
One thing that makes it harder is that I may want to sel my car IF the right vintage racing car comes across. It seems that many folks want all Porsche and even on the suspension. Which my car is now virtually everywhere and all parts etc were Porsche during the re-do. I let a Porsche numbered set of Bilsteins get away on ebay.
Thanks guys. Lex maybe you will post up when you do change.

My '86 also came with M474 Konis originally. I bent one, and the replacements were NLA, so I bought a set of old blown Boge struts for next to nothing from a guy here on Rennlist, cut them open and installed the Koni inserts per the instructions on Paragon.
If you want coilover sleeves, you can cut off the stock spring perch and install the Ground Control coilover sleeve kit. This is certainly a cheaper option overall than installing original M030 struts, unless you luck out and find some for cheap.

On my other vehicle I have a set of Koni FSD dampers on 190 lb springs in the front and 160 lb in the back. The car is FWD and around 3100lbs with a front weight bias but I like the dampening a lot as well as the stiffness over the 951.

I was a PCA tech session on Sunday. It was held at Chris White's place, 944 enhancement. HE had a new black box that he is installing on a customers 944, it was pretty cool. IT was almost like F1 telemetry.
Back to the OP. I bought CPR's 944 and it came with some MO30's with 450lb springs in a box. I did the 48 hours Zone 1 DE and was fairly happy with the handling. It currently has Bilsteins with dropped down (lowered) spring perch. Not quite like the Escort series but close.
I brought up the subject of adding suspension pieces one at a time versus doing it all at one time. The CPR car came with Elephant rear bushings (not installed) and upgraded droplinks for the swaybar (not installed). So I am thinking do I want to put the car in the air and do it all or just piecemeal. Various answers were given about keeping the ride compliant, more noise from elephant delrin bushings, etc.
It was brought out that the MO30 Konis are adjustable for wear NOT for adjustablility on the street/track. That makes this set of MO30's expendable in my mind.
