tecart, what kind of pressure readings are you getting on the oil pressure gauge...?

If the new pressure valve is not the right one for your application, or misassembled, it can be damaged, causing extreme pressure to make the weakest seal leak, when it would not otherwise.
I've seen cars actually blow the rubber ring off a new oil filter within seconds of startup.
What procedure did you mechanic follow in aligning the valve...?

There definitely needs to be an o-ring on the outside of the oil pump gear sleeve. In my case, when I replaced it, the new one was black. There also should be a large washer installed after the o-ring.

My Orings have always been green for that application.

Correct me if I'M wrong but I believe their are two diff length bolts and if a longer one bottoms out in the hole in might feel tight, when in fact it isn't, causing the casting not to be tight against the block. Also be careful to use the correct bolt head as the tensioner will bind .
