that doesn't sound right... this wire has a flat blade connector and the test port uses bullet style connectors.

It does go to a switched 12v. I'm not exactly sure where the supply source is though. Either the test port or where tge cycling valve used to be if no longer being used iirc

Yep, Cycling Valve plug. One of the two wires there should be a switched +12volt - that is where the red wire goes.
Sorry, I need to finish the instructions!

Hmmm... well I guess I'll have to find another good spot, since I just ripped out my cycling valve wires. I have the whole harness out of the car, maybe I'll just extend this wire back to the dme plug on the cycling valve +12v pin.

Also, I just checked fitment of the maf pipe and the alternator is definitely in the way... how did you guys get it to fit in there?

You can run the wire up to the test port then.

It is a tight fit, and you might have to tweak the turbo coolant pipe up slightly, but it will fit

I would be advise adding some strain relief to the connection. I doubled the wire back on the connector and put on a wire tie on it so you can't pull it out with a simple tug.

Ok.. just converted my DME to 28 pin, piece of cake! But, I can't tell which way the chip goes in. Josh, is this correct?

Also, next pic is my reworked harness, still have to add the MAP wires and my new injector section from LR. And I'm thinking hard about just ditching the original AFM plug, since it's kind of redundant at this point.

...Uh, the M-tune plugs into the original AFM plug.... I wouldn't recommend removing that....

Good idea Brian.

Karl, Geoff is right. You need the stock AFM plug, as the M-Tune MAF plugs into it.
Also, flip the chipboard 180°.

I think the chip board is in the wrong way. On my A-tune it was flipped 180 degrees. Better check with Joshua to be sure.

Thanks... yeah, what I meant was cutting both sides of the AFM connection and splicing the wires together - I'm resheathing everything anyway. The harness would still be removable from the MAF pipe by the 2 new connectors at the maf sensor and ait sensor. Obviously you wouldn't be able to put the AFM back in without some rewiring, but it would eliminate a potential failure point in the wiring. There seem to be a lot of horror stories with MAF installs and questionable wiring..

Should the pins circled below be linked together? As in, I can get a measurable resistance, ~20 ohm, when I put one lead on the jumper end (middle circle) and another on any of the pins circled.

Normal?

I doubt it... I don't know for sure.
