external oilcooler on a 944 nonturbo
hi guys
im new here.i have a question.i have a 88 944 and i had a 944 turbo oilcooler fitted to it.the first year i had it on the temps were very low.this past year the temps have gone back to what they were when i didnt have it,which run pretty high in the summer time.last year the water temp gauge would stay on the first bar no matter what speed i was traveling at,this was after i put the oil cooler in. i just had a new radiator put in so i know its not that.so my question is,is there a thermostat in the turbo oil cooler system.if so is it in the cooler itself or behind the plate that bolts to the block. thanks Ernie <img src="graemlins/wave.gif" border="0" alt="[byebye]" /> |
There is a thermostat in the housing. It's under the big hex-head cap next to the oil filter. After driving for a while, touch the little oil cooler radiator, if it's cold....you found your problem.
