Yeah I'm thinking the 2.7 engines are hanging out with the 944 S heads, in the Hen's teeth Zone!

But in the interest of bolt on parts, that is important to know, thanks.

No room left for hens teeth!

It there was a demand for it I could fit a really small turbo on a tube of RTV….but I don’t think it will go any faster!

So is 5k doable?
Ok ,Ill tell you what ive done with a 944s2 3.0 16 valve .
2mm inox spacer within two wide fire ring head gaskets,
Raceware head studs.
Stock intake
Stock 951 intercooler
930 turbo 60mm impeller(dry sump)
Tec 3r
1000 cc injectors
2 dual fc3 coils
951 waste gate
Me/be turbodiesel map sensor
12:1 fuel ratio above .8bar
And 516 whp at 1,6 bar @6800 and 105 octane ,5000km heavy use and no issues
I use 20-50 Motul semisynthetic.
The s2 has forged pistons, but the s doesn't even though are much much sronger that what the after market sells for turbos and dont forget that the stock pistons are custom mached by Porsche to each bore according to honing group.Dont mess with your intake its magnesium and its easyer to do the exhaust but put a bellows between the first and fourth runners like 951.

Right were the 931 waste gate was mounted, but flash to the cross member thats why i used dry sump for the turbo from the streering pumps bracket and a renauld electric steering pump for the steering located in the back .

lots of knowledge on this subject.

Perhaps there are still a few still around to lend an opinion.

I just picked up a free 944S engine that I plan to turbocharger & run in my Porsche "boat", yes, an older speed boat.

After reading all the above posts (7 pages worth...though some skimming performed here), it appears I can slap my 951 rod/piston combos into this engine & run it as it is. This combination should yield about 9.5:1 compression.

I doubt 968 valves are more durable than 944S valves...NA Porsche valves are all probably about the same composition...unless someone knows otherwise. I could go with new SS valves as an option.

I have 68 degree lake water cooling three air/water heat exchangers: oil, coolant, intercooler, so my temps should stay within check. Any other opinions on this engine usage would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Mark

I got a set of me/be 2,3 16v exhaust valves for my 944s2 turbocharged and i tested the shaft temperature dissipation difference in both 944s2 and 2,3 me/be (sodium filled)at the same time was minor With 150 C valve head the ME/BE stem measured 118C and the 944 110C.The material of course is superior in the ME/BE (nimonic) but the valve is less massive at the head.I checked with the TRW catalog though and found out that the 944S S-2 ,928 S-4 (As) exhaust material is used in many turbocharged motors even in 930 without sodiun filled stems.I use the stock valves and springs in my 3.0 16v for 10 years with 1,6 boost without problems.Tuning is more important.
