I was considering one several years ago to mount on a bike. I spoke to a guy who edits a morotcycle consumer reports magazine out of California, who told me they were all junk. If there was on that actually worked, I think we would have heard about it by now. I'd advise saving your money and buying a good detector instead. Or slow down.

I go by Automobile Magizine real world test and according to the results some active jammers sometimes are effective as advertised ! But the cops can hear the white noise emitting as you pass by. I have the 56voice Bell upgradable unit .
I live in OKlahoma , very illegal !

"Still capable of putting up a good show against X and K-band radar and lasers, with its stratospheric price tag, minimal features and quirky ergonomics . Celebrating its tenth birthday next year, making it the oldest model on the market, the V1 is clearly showing its age."

Most Porsche guys go with K27 turbo upgrade and most Americans use AOL internet. That means they are the best that $$ can buy, correct ? Talk is cheap, I prefer real world testing and hard data comparisons ie dyno charts and track times before I jump on an expensive bandwagon.

Matt,
>> Talk is cheap, I prefer real world testing and hard data comparisons ie dyno charts and track times before I jump on an expensive bandwagon.<<
Its funny that you would mention 'real world tests', and then point people to radartest.com. If you would do a little bit more research, you will find that the owner of radartest.com is significantly biased against Mr. Valentine. This fact MUST be taken into consideration when reading his vitriol. Also, the testing done by radartest leaves much to be desired in the 'scientific' area.

I don't have time to post more, but the gist of it is, RADARTEST.COM is biased, untrue, and maybe worse.

I ran the Valentine 1 and the Passport 8500 side by side for a month. My decision? I sold the Valentine and kept the Passport. In the metro areas the V1 will lull you to sleep with all of its falsing. The V1 on the open road is great though. The 8500 won hands down when it comes to giving "real" alerts. The Laser sensitivity is supposedly better with the V1. However, laser is used sparingly here in Oklahoma so I'm not too concerned with that.
The only thing I miss from the V1 is the direction arrow thing which was great. I'll buy another V1 someday if they repair the falsing problem. BTW, my V1 was a brand new latest software version...not an old update one as some of the V1 advocates would like to believe.

Really, that is interesting how you point to Valentine's website as a source of information. Well, in the same line of banter- look at this if you dare:
The REAL story behind Mike Valentine
Where do you get your information other than the fact that you have to justify a $400 over priced mistake?

I'm beginning to be highly suspect of opinions in magazines that have advertising. You never know whats going on "under the table" in exchage for a positive review of a product. I'd much rather gather real world opinions from actual users, such as ourselves.

"The real reasons behind Mike's endless tirades are his huge ego and, to an equal extent--the fact that his baby has been outclassed by newer--not to mention much cheaper and far more sophisticated rivals. With revenues falling rapidly, he's more motivated than ever to go on the offensive. If Mike devoted half as much effort to improving the elderly V1 as he does in making personal attacks on independent journalists, he'd have a world-class product."
