Huntley Racing Cheater Stage II Turbo
Are these Turbo's just a reworked K26 with a different compressor? Has anyone used this turbo? There is one for sale used and I think I might be able to get it for a good price. Need to know your input on what kind of turbo this is.. Garret, K27 reworked, K26 reworked? Thanks..

I think it's just the stock turbo (k26/6 or k26/8?) with a bored out compressor and a 993 compressor wheel.
What I would really want to get is the Garrett GT-series turbo.

You want ball bearing Garrett so you can eat modded 952s & 930s for lunch. Stage 3.5 Garrett matched with big inj. puts your 951 at 350-360 dyno rwhp @18psi. Hope you have a strong engine and rear axel because that is a 12sec car with slicks.

I wouldn't consider the cheater's similar to the stock kkk 26/6's and 26/8's. I understand you can make over 310 @ the wheels with the stage two and the boost threshold is considerable lower than that of a 26/8!

I dont have a replacement for my J boot yet and my 2nd gear is probably missing at least 10 teeth so It might be a month. I have plans to split dyno time with a buddy though so I promise the results will be up here.

That was my turbo, and it is sold. However, it is a reworked K26-8 with the diffrent compressor. It is far diffrent from a stocker.
1. I could hold 21psi at redline. I ran it all day at 18.
2. My dyno run showed 280 at the wheels with a MAF, Stage 2 chips, and exhaust. Stock showed 208 at 18psi. I'd say it gave me at least a 50hp punch.
3. It showed 15psi at 2700, far far quicker than the stock K26 I had.
Now, will it be the same as a big *** ball bearing turbo? Nope, and that is why I am going to buy one The K26 series cannot flow enough air for 300+hp. For the daily driver, it is a great addition and I would reccomend it again, although I am growing away from Huntley.

The 'Cheeter' turbos are not the same as a 951 TS turbo. We machine out he compressor housing to accept a modern oversized compressor wheel and clip the turbine wheel. This makes the turbo capable of more CFM and higher efficiences without added lag. The Cheeter I is for street cars and the Cheeter II with the larger hot side and turbine for High HP street cars or track cars. These are not as powerfull as our Garrett Hybrids but are less money and look stock.

First off you guys told my mechanic that it wasn't worth it going to the ball bearing turbos. How much of a difference are they lag wise when the turbo is "asleep"?
Second, the turbo seems to let out a small puff of smoke when I back off the throttle at redline and high boost (ie shifting). Is this normal? I'm also seeing random puffs of smoke after a cold night, first time on boost. Engine Temp is already up there, the car was driven at less than 3psi boost for about an hour then the first hard run yielded smoke at about 3500rpm-4000rpm. Any thoughts to this?
Otherwise, very happy with the turbo. It's making really good power and like your descriptions say, I need lots of road and brakes.

All turbos take some time to break in and untill you get a few more miles I don't see anything to cause concern. Have you retuned your car with the new turbo? The puffs may be fuel? The difference between BB and the new 360 bullit turbo like you have is very small. It used to be that the BB was a big difference over our then baseline turbos, but now the difference is slim. We still offer the BB units but at $300 more they are not as good a buy. I recomend the 360 bullit unless you need absolutly the most spool up advantage.
