Why a red dashboard?
My 87 951 has a black dash, but the "paint?" seems to be wearing through, revealing a bright red dashboard underneath. I thought 944T only came with a black dash?

There were other dashes, burgundy interiors had a burgundy dash, it's not *bright* red, but it's red. It sounds like someone painted a red one in your car, that's really strange.

Yeah it's bright red underneath. I guess someone painted the stock dash bright red then someone else painted it back to black maybe. Who knows.

There was factory red interior option in '87... it was a bit *much*, imo... Sounds like a previous owner agreed with me, and painted it black. I would be willing to bet that the red is the factory color. Have you checked the tag in the spare tire area for the original factory color?

look for the sun faded ghost of a TYPE R emblem on the decklid...
I looked at a 968 not long ago that had a purple interior someone sprayed black. purple showing through black carpet, steering wheel, dash ect....
