Post Fuel smell when tank is low....? (cross-post)

guys, I've discerned that the strong fuel odor/fumes I'm smelling from the driver's seat in my Dad's 951 occurs when the tank is 1/4 full or below.

I'm hoping this bit of information sparks a recollection in the mind of some else who may have experienced this condition, and could point me in the right direction?

TIA!

My father had a similar problem in his 968. I will get back to you as soon as I can with the exact cause. I have to talk to black forest here in SD since they were the ones who fixed it.

Is there pressure when opening the gas cap after driving?
had similar problem on a 83-Na , with fuel smell when coming below 1/2
Found out that the venting of the fuel tank was glogged!!

I have pressure release when opening cap.

Where do you check to see if it is clogged?

The vapors are held in a tank under the drivers side fender. A line goes all the way back to the gas tank filler tube and another line goes into the engine compartment. It is suppose to be under preasure (holding the vapors) until you start up the car. A valve then opens and passes the vapors into the intake.
