FYI never ever drain rad fluid from the drain port on any car. always drain from the hose. Yes i know a big mess. but i rather deal with a big mess than a broken rad drain plug

It wasn't the drain. I was changing the hose from the over flow tank to the rad. It's really tight, as it carries pressurized coolant back into the top of the rad.
I always drain from the lower hose.
Spenser, that's what I'm doing. It looks like it's going to work.

You can usually wedge something in there and twist out the remains. It's plastic, so worst case you just pry, pick and chip out the remains... Fun...

Are we at the point where a hammer and duct tape will fix the problem? Because if we are, I suggest using a hammer and/or duct tape to fix the problem.

I found a thin, sharp chisel worked well -- grabbed better than a screwdriver because it was sharp. Press in and turn, no heating required.

Well. the internal threads are stripped. I'm thinking of heating up the thread area on the screw socket and jamming it in the hole.
What do you guys think?
Shouldn't the hot plastic bond to the end tank plastic and seal up?
Eventually I'm getting one of Chris White's rads anyway, so it doesn't matter if it ends up in there permanently.
