That was my first reaction too but then remembered non-members can't see pictures (I think).
At the moment I'm leaning towards the 993 badge w/the black letters. I may call Zims and see how amenable they'll be to returns and then just order several of them...

Non-members can see sig pic's - at least I can and that reminds me, I still need to do my membership thing since I'm probably keeping my 951 for awhile.

The new crest is the 4th choice (996). Have you seen it in person and did you like it? My understanding is that the posts may be slightly offset from the originals, which is an issue if you're replacing an old one on existing paint but isn't an issue for me w/new paint.

On my 931 I bought option #2, but I didn't know about the new ones with the black porsche lettering. I like those better. My 951 has a FG vented hood panel and no crest and I kinda like it. I've thought about putting a crest back on, but I'm not sure if I ever will.

I've seen it, and I like it. But I don't know if I'd like it on the 951.

Burning Brakes
Before you spring for a new one, use some Brasso or similar on a clean flannel rag, and buff the original by hand for awhile. You'd be amazed how well it cleans up, or at least mine did and looks virtually new.
It did, however, have a crack in the red plastic overlay. Fixed with red wax Crayon of matching color, which with heat (in kitchen oven for a few minutes at 250 degrees) melts and runs into and fills such cracks. You've heard of "lost wax method" in casting? Works real good, which is why it's been used for thousands of years.
So, this 25 year old header panel emblem with a bit of elbow grease looks virtually new. Worth a shot?

Ended up ordering the 993 version (Option 3) with the black lettering. Thanks for all the input everyone, can't wait to get the car back on the road!

If I would have known about that...it would have been my choice for mine too! Oh yeah, and Zim's is about 8 minutes from my work
