I forgot to mention that this happend with my '89 951S not on the 968TRS replica

The 951 is pretty much stock except for the LR chip set ,maf kit , alu flywheel ,930 clutch disk.

if someone has a 951 bell housing for sale let me know please.

somebody try to get the torque tube to seat by trying to pull it in by the mounting bolts?

Seems like a very odd failure unless the car was wrecked.

no wait, the wrong pilot bearing, then somebody forced the TT in with the bolts....... my best guess - so do tell what happened?? or you just happen to notice it?

I just noticed it by accident while doing a pre race check up I didn't hear nor feel anything suspicious the last time i drove it .
It has bin 2 years and a lot of abuse since the engine was out of the car ,so any dammage caussed by instaling it the wrong way should have come clear a lot earlier ,no?

dunno, but that certainly is suspicious. from the pis you posted the crack originate around the mount holes..... unless they were loose or foreign object between them or something I can't see how you could crack like that...... There is simply not enough load on the bell housing as mounted in the car.

Had to be an install, wreck or loose harware deal I would think.

Only time i have seen a cracked bellhousing was from someone doing a clutch job and not tightening the bellhousing bolts (not even finger tight).

Check for imperfections in the casting when you get it out. I have noticed the die casting on the bell housing is less than perfect and can create stress risers.

I do have a hard time believing the bell hosing broke from abuse. By chance do you have solid mounts in the car? This can cause stress to be transferred through the chassis to the engine and trans assembly.

No impacts since i own/race it .I had the engine out 2 years ago and did the clutch at that time ,I didn't noticed anything then .
there are no solid mounts on this car it is almost stock .

from what i understand from the reply's this is not a common isue on these cars???
