Default Mahle 101mm 951 Pistons

$950 Shipped CONUS.

These were purchased for a rebuild that I just don't seem to be able to get around to. Pistons, rings, circlips and wrist pins are included. Please PM for questions, additional pics, etc...

They're within a gram or 1/2 gram weight on all four, Ferroprint iron coating. Compression 8.1:1, recommended clearance is .038mm, should gain 13-15hp over stock.

Hi,

knowing not so much yet - what is the weight of the Mahle pistons? What is Ferroprint coating good for? Usually hear more of thermal coating.
101 mm. Is that oversize for engines with many miles and much wear?

Why should they add more power?

Best regards

Niels

yes, then LR took over the pistons with Mahle.

I'm hoping to get the track car to the dyno next week if I can get it all accomplished, looking for 370 with the pistons, new lightweight gears, and BS delete.

Ferroprint is an iron based coating, original coating was Ferrostan - now dubbed environmentally unfriendly, so it's compatible with the alusil bores. They add a bit more power - either the maching tolerance or the top of the piston promotes better combustion - we don't really know but JME bought four sets and his builds averaged 13-15 hp increase over the same "build sheet" from previous engines, all his stuff was dyno'd. The top of the piston, the dish was centered and enlarged just a bit, this was because Mahle doesn't own the design of the factory piston, Porsche does.
