Default Looping power steering

Search well and truly performed with no luck. Anyone know the easiest way to loop the power steering rack to run it as manual? Sizes of fittings etc. would be awesome. Thanks!

I searched for "depower" some light reading for you, search is OK if you are searching for one term, and use quotation marks....

good luck! FWIW, I resealed my rack and pump and have had zero leaks since!

Connect the two on the long metal tube together. Plug the rest.

I'm borrowing a car that this was done to...I hate it as a street car. On the track it is not too bad.

Thanks for the replies. "Depower." I never would have thought of that!

rcarpen, just did this to my 968. im not a big dude and i drive my car daily. I have no problems at all with driveability. the only caveat is that the intermediate shaft is not designed for the extra force that is required to turn the wheel but i haven't heard of too many issues.

Basically if you want to try this as a permanent solution then go the extra mile and get a manual rack. if this is merely a stopgap until you can afford to replace power steering components then i suggest taking the piston off the rack shaft and also replacing the little springs in the valve with a equal length, non-compressable material. i used an extra cut-up allen wrench but others have used old screws and the like. this allows you to completely remove all lines and gets rid of what people describe as a "mushy", "inaccurate" steering sensation. Because my rack seals were shot, i drained the fluid inside and filled it with moly grease and at any forward movement its relatively easy to turn. parallel parking is a pita though... PM me if you'd like details, im much better at describing things over the phone... good luck either way!
