I messed around with good ol' Detroit iron about 15 years, still have weak spots for several classic vechiles including Challenger & Charger :)

How well does that hockey tape hold up for the wire harness? Do you cover it with shrink wrap? Have you used it on another car to see how it holds up? Sorry, for all of the questions. I am doing a harness now and that is way cheaper than what I was going to use.

Olli Snellman 10-03-2010 10:28 AM

I have used Jaybird hocky tape several years. I do not use any shrink wrap, no need for that. Jaybird hocky tape looks like OEM stuff when applied.Don't know how does it looks after 20 years of use.Hockey tape is designed for heavy duty use, it has to hold on with hocky sticks. Jaybird can be found with several different colors as well.

Project has proceeded quite slowly. Only head has been disassembled for check up. Have had too much other tasks to do.

Changed belts, tie rod ends and few other thiings to this S2 cab. Luckily got help from Peter

Thanks, I will have to order some. Not much hockey played around here.

Olli Snellman 10-03-2010 12:20 PM

Where are you from? How can it be possible the coolest game on earth is not played there :)
If you need help to get Jaybird hockeytape, just PM me, i can help if you are for example from some european country like i am.

arthropraxis 10-03-2010 09:25 PM

It rarely even ices in the winter here. Southeast USA. There is a professional hockey team in town, went to a game and had no idea what was going on. I can order the tape off amazon, thanks.

Well, hoceky is what we do. Usually inside arenas, but here's a picture i took last winter when it was decent winter also in the southern part of Finland. We skate a lot outdoors.
Here's all of my three sons, all of them have learnt to skate when they were two years old.
From left to right:
Arno 7 years, Lauri 22 yrs (project 951 owner) and Peter 5 yrs

olli good pics very entertaining

Olli Snellman 10-04-2010 12:43 PM

Nice if my stories with pics cause some intrest :)

Without hobby like hockey we would not found such a great product like Jaybird Hocket tape :) I try to keep my eyes open and usually find products which can also be used with cars. For example Hocky tape is much cheaper to buy than the brand ment for automotive use. Hockeytape is very strong and durable product and fits great for fixing wireing looms.

We have not worked much during October with the project. Have prepared parts for powder coating. Removed also head from engine and found out 7K miles ago overhauled engine needs some head work to be done, otherwise it is OK. We also decided to get new waterpump and the whole timing/palancesaft belt systems. It's quite convinient when you are importer for example Laso (water pumps) products, so you get parts for decent price for own projects :)
Son decided also to go standalone system, he will get a "left over" finnish Tatech system for student friendly price from my Swedish friend Gustaf (Duke). Tatech will be ideal for our use, because a good friend of mine already have systems installed into his two 951's; a track 2.5L & street 3.0L.

Olli, whatever happened to that 951?
You mean Markus' orange 951? Some parts of it's engine is in Gustaf's (Duke) 951. Orange one have more or less standard 951 engine installed and if i rember correctly car is now owned by a younger woman to whom Markus sold it before he went to his journey to Australia. Markus is back in Estonia and last time i heard from him he was involved to Opel Omega Lotus (similar like in this picture)

http://www.forum-opel.fr/images_uplo...282845ed34.jpg

Very rare car which were produced less than 1000 examples. It has powerful turboed Opel six with lots of Vette ZR1 parts, like transmission.

Olli Snellman 11-01-2010 06:58 AM

Ok, Tatech will come from Gustaf's friend Fredrik. If everything goes as planned both Gustaf & Fredrik will come over Finland next summer with their 951's to have some serious track fun. And afterwards some sauna & beer :)

Got a shipment today. A new WG for son's project. Quality is decent and cost only about $80 including purhase price/delivery/customs fees
