Default Heres a handy tool for finding phantom battery drains

Its called a Fuse Buddy. You plug its probes into the fuse socket, plug the fuse into the probe unit (to maintain the circuit protection) and it will display the current being drawn on the circuit.

http://www.esitest.com/fuse_buddy.html

There are 20 and 30 amp versions, and a larger Pro version that can do 80 amps.

$20-25 on EBay for the 20 and 30 amp versions Just search for "Electronic Specialties 306B ATC Fuse Buddy 30 AMP"

I'm trying to find a good reason to use this instead of a multimeter but I'm having no luck coming up with anything

As someone who as tried to keep multimeter probes stuck in the fuse slots without dicking around, this is much better.

Plus it has the fuse, for protection. On most multimeters, the fuse doesnt apply to the high current measuring, nor does it protect the circuit itself. This one does.

I bought a set of these from the snap-on man a few years ago very nice and handy units. They were selling them as a set for both fuse sizes
