Not sure what that highlighted statement meant but if it means higher values, we will take it.
Most of us knew all along what a great value the 968 is. Looks like the secret is out. Watch the prices start to fly and good cars become harder to find.
Seen this with other models before. Hopefully, most 968 owners will not start wrapping them in plastic and putting them away for fear of depreciation.

With a healthy 236 horsepower and a superbly balanced chassis, the 968, along with the 928 GTS, were the final expressions of Porsche’s transaxle architecture and the last front-engined vehicles they’d produce until the Cayenne. The 968 is also quite scarce. US deliveries exceeded 1,500 for just one model year. Higher mileage coupes and cabriolets are still available in the teens. Don’t say we didn’t give you a heads up.

the 968s as collectable $$$ cars. hit or miss. they're fun kit cars for any and all forms of preserving... or tuning all the way up to expensive turbo conversions or dropping in well-built v8s. BUT, YOU DO IT FOR THE SINGLE PURPOSE OF DRIVING IT!! .....going past the extremely costly 968 Turbo, V8's are a viable option worth a serious look. the v8's bring an enormous amount of stability and workability to the platform, and truly unleash the performance and latent potential built into these cars–all at a relatively, reasonable cost.
if i'm honest, the key in this endeavor is to acquire an inexpensive engine from a totaled car, and direct the lion's share of the funding on the precise details of the engine swap and transmission upgrades. failure to build the car correctly will render a poor result, a car that you will dislike, won't drive, and a car you will eventually depart from–with a lot of money wasted.
in the end; there's death, taxes, the Crimson Tide – and a v8 944 or 968 running the interstate.... ....leaving not so much as a drop of liquid on the floor when she gets home from Topanga Canyon, the Rockies, the Grand Tetons or wherever.
in the pleasant, warmer months, it's a great choice for daily driving or a long drive....
you can drive it insanely fast–very far–with almost no limits.

Scott Dewitt built this box for me. The Audi 3-6 is the transmission built using Audi gears 3rd through 6th in my 951. Sent Excel spread sheet you can edit using any DCT or manual knowing ratios required.
Get tire size, etc. is relevant - this doc was built for my car - edit to your liking.

With all due respect Allan I have to wonder what the point of this question is. 190 mph is some serious speed and over the limit in most states by 120mph at best. Personally even if my 1987 944 could do that speed I wouldn't try it even on a track in a 23 year old car. Unless you can get to those speeds in a very short period of time most tracks don't have the room to do it anyways.
I live about 100 miles away from roads that have no speed limits.

i too don't "get" the desire for 190, cool to say you can if you wanted, i guess.
mine barely gets to 100 before traffic shows up, but that's probably because its an NA and took 20 miles to get there.

do you guys cry 'oh that's too excessive' about 2,375 over-boosted 944T's?
it's a car forum. we're supposed to go fast.
stuff blows up too! when the 944T engines blow sky high running >375whp, nobody makes a peep, now we're gonna get religion if someone floors it on a lonely highway a 150 miles from the Morman Tabernacle?

I don't know if this has been answered already in this mega-thread, but getting the gearing for 190 mph isn't too hard. Here's a useful gear calculator;
http://www.gtsparkplugs.com/GearCalc.html
Just 3 changes are needed- a slightly taller tire at 25.4" diameter, raise the engine rev limit to 6700rpm, and swap the taller 5th gear from the 944S2 (0.778 ratio). That will be enough gearing to hit 193mph at 6700 rpm. This also assumes the final drive from the 951 is used (3.375 ratio).

LOL, looked the bike was short shifting through the gears, waiting for the car to get up to top speed.

The utter absurdity of Porsche owners ridiculing another Porsche owner for wanting to go as fast as possible really can't go without comment. WTF are you guys even talking about? Apparently, the heroin plague must have hit this community because you would have to be high on drugs not to see the abject hypocrisy of such ridicule. SMH
Odurandina, I still generally think you are a moron on a vast array of topics, but they are full of crap coming after you for this. Just because we disagree doesn't mean you don't deserve my support when you are taking unfair crap. I expect that this will never happen again.
