Etienne,
I can add the three AFM transfer function tables... But they are not used by the DME in a linear fashion. The three tables are used as such:

T1 x T3 x 2^T2

The early 86-87 DME the transfer function code is on processor. As such, it is not accessible. The 88-89 DME all the code is on the EPROM. But MAF code requires actual code changes, not just adjusting table values. ATM we will stick to the basics.

I'll add a spreadsheet, and info for those who want to play with the transfer function tables... But I suggest caution.

I know if you have the calibration file of the MAF meter, you can generate the transfer function.... I don't actually know how becaus I haven't spent time sorting that out yet..

Early 85-87 DME is really easy to convert to late model one. Also 90-91 all the code is on the Eprom.

So the Ostrich is the hardward interface between the laptop and the DME?

Also, does this plug into the DME chip port and have to stay plugged in if you are not buring a new chip each time?

yes. but unlike the chip you can adjust it while the cars is running and see real time results.

You can not match up a MAF transfer function using the stock DME code. You might be able to get somewhat close, but it will never be exact. This is because of the way the DME transfer function is coded, it forces an exponential curve.
I'll explain it a little more with graphs in the DIY.

Olli,
Yes, you are correct, it is a simple task to convert the early 951 DME to late. But not everyone is comfortable with soldering...

Hey Rogue

I worked with the moates stuff a few years back on some GM projects I had.
With a flash chip retrofit one could use flash chips.... easy peasy in GM world, dunno if anybody has done one with 944 ecu I did this with old GM stuff, worked very slick.

As you know the key for most DIY ers will be a solid baseline. This will limit somebody with altered displacement, compression, fuel, injectors, head work, cam, you get further from a good baseline.... on a turbo car in particular that is key

I spent weeks/months developing and refining a good baseline for a radical 406 NA setup. I make no claim to be an expert tuner, but I was amazed how challenging it was to get a good all around baseline.
I can't imagine doing the same for a turbo tune and baseline that far off.

On that note - if anybody is looking for a screaming deal on any of the following let me know
moates burn1 chip device
27SF512 flash chips
GM 1227747 ECM retrofited G2 socket for flash chip use (soldered by Craig Moates)

I agree that a solid baseline is paramount. That is exactly why we will be starting with factory code and tables. Bosch / Porsche put a lot of time into the DME; it only makes sense to use it as a starting point.
Furthermore, a solid understanding of how the DME operates is extremely important as well. That is why I'm writing up a 'guide', so the DIY'er will have something to reference and help along the way.

You have a PM.

Coming from the Lancer Evolution community where DIY ECU tuning is widespread and pretty well documented, this would be awesome.

VERY Interested in this. Thanks for your work Rogue.
